1996 Chateau Giscours Margaux
BAD REPUTATION
The winemakers at Giscours back in 1995 committed a crime for blending AOC Margaux grapes with AOC Haut Medoc grapes on their second wines, involving 200,000 bottles of La Sirene de Giscours. I’m not sure if 96 was affected, but due to this case, I refrain myself from buying any Giscours.
This vintage is drinking fairly well right now. Surprisingly soft and mellow makes it rather attractive. Bear in mind 96 is not a merlot vintage, high merlot in it usually is a train wreck.
