1996 Domaine de La Romanee Conti La Tâche Grand Cru
WHY DRC?
Amongst the five appellations produced by DRC (excluding the Marc de Bourgogne), Echezeaux was pretty much the lowest ranking of appellation (perhaps also the cheapest amongst all). However, this bottle came from an excellent vintage.
I find that it was predictably steady like most DRC I drank in the past, structurally sound even though it may not be the best in its league. Thus I believe the reliability, rather than the expensive price tag, was what people were willing to pay for DRC.
