1997 E. Guigal Cote Rotie La Turque
WEAK LA LA LA?
Amongst the three amigos from Guigal, Turque, Landonne and Mouline, I always thought the Turque was the weakest of the three. Since I was on Northern Rhone tasting, I might as well feature this Turque and see if it was weak?
Not at all! It stood tall against the big guys like Mouline and Ampuis. Very creamy Syrah nose. Surprisingly rich and deep in flavor, very fruity as well, it seemed to be a dancer and very lively in flavor. Now I'm almost persuaded Turque has it's own charm!

MUSCULAR WINE #2
I have posted the review on La Turque 01 earlier, this 97 was an edge better than the 01. Of course it had almost all the characters of 01. Huge nose, extremely floral and loads of spice on the nose. Even though the wine was big and muscular and rugged, I detected some form of elegance in this vintage. Is it leading towards an improvement of elegance? I don't know, have to drink more older vintages to find out.
