1997 Masseto Toscana
For Johan's sake, I post this review today. I was mildly disappointed with Masseto 97, claimed by me as The Petrus of Italy, not quite for this vintage. An extremely dense wine, it shows great great power that refused to even bow out after 4 hours of decanting, sounds like a 100 yr old wine. I can tell it has the same pedigree as other vintages like 99 and 01, but really did not taste as good as 99 nor 01, it also has lesser pure fruits comparatively. Stick to 01 for the knockout & 99 for its elegance.
