1998 Chateau Beauregard Pomerol
CHEAP AND IMPRESSIVE POMEROL
Beauregard only produced less than 5,000 cases a year. A blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc, I was very impressed with this 98 vintage, short of calling it a Cheap Man's Petrus. Deep dark fruits was the de facto nose. Body was rounded dark fruits (mainly Merlot), while there are still a big load of tannins (must be from Cabernet Franc) supporting the wine backbone, which is surprising after 17 years for a lesser known label. Very addictive to drink this wine.
