1998 Domaine du Pegau Cuvee da Capo
Coming from a top vintage from CDP, and obviously their flagship cuvee, wasn’t made every vintage, and only release them for great vintages. So this rare gem is obviously a rare find. I decanted it less than an hour, the first whiff was filled with pharmaceutical medicinal nose, but it quickly got blown off, left with large amount of black currant and dark fruits. Although predominantly Grenache, it didn’t taste like Rayas, the king of CDP. A tad too sweet on the body, although very elegant and comforting, with very well integrated tannins and silky finishing. It does have the potential to go much further with age.
