1999 Daniel Moine Hudelot Bonnes Mares Grand Cru
21 years for Bonnes Mares was still in adolescence stage? Apparently that was my impression when I had the first sip of this wine! Gripping tannins and dry juice was all over my palette, although nothing much to talk about when it comes to the taste of the wine, as Bonnes Mares were usually a big and bold wine right in the face (of course the style is generic, I have also tasted very elegant Bonnes Mares from top winemakers too). So I poured all 3 bottles into a big surface decanter in hope that the tannins will mellow down. After an hour, the tannins hardly moved and refused to go away, so I waited for another half an hour. To my shock, the wine has turned dry raisins! This was a sign of wine going downhill already, and frankly, it was no looking back from there onwards, it actually went downhill and not so drinkable anymore.
