2000 Vignobles Garcin Barde Haut Saint Emilion Grand Cru
This is an impressive wine for its grand cru status only (the better grades of St Emilion are Premier Grand Cru Classe). Nose was full of coffee and dark berry fruits. Palette is where it really astonished me: tasted like a Pomerol wine with high Merlot content; rounded, pleasant and very drinkable. I think it'll need another 2 3 decades of aging to shine as my last glass of the wine was encapsulated with nothing but dry tannins, like tasting a very young wine, perhaps a 2010. Thus aging potential is good
