2001 Aegerter Batard Montrachet Grand Cru

Aegerter wasn’t a famous producer of Batard Montrachet, and the grapes were purchased from other co operatives. However, the wine showed that he has the skills to make very good Batard Montrachet when all playing fields were equal. The color was giving away that it maybe premox, and I was correct as the nose was with faint sugarcane. However, it did not affect the content as it was super easy to drink, smooth and balanced. The content also exhibited multi dimensional flavours. It may not be the big and bold Batard we normally encountered, in fact it was light but flavourful, a very different expression from the expected Batard Montrachet. Kudos to the great winemaking skill!
