It’s hard not to fall in love with Dom Perignon, high expectation will never be a crime.
Very strong honey taste, with ripeness, a bit too much bubbles and mousse though. Somehow occasionally I encountered bottle variation like this that lacked strong and fruity flavor, thus 4.5 stars. However the signature Dom Perignon character of laser sharp precision of balanced fruits and acidity was intact, this alone beat many rivals champagne and definitely Dom Perignon’s signature style.

Like it’s younger siblings 04 that I just reported yesterday, this was another bright Dom Perignon on the crowded field of champagnes.
Dom Perignon doesn’t try to use fruits to win the audiences. It used a combination of features to shine. Most importantly, it tried to achieve a balance of harmony, and precision. 02 was exactly the classic DP that should enter the hall of fame. Very rich and honey like, but never too loud. Superbly made for a perfect vintage, highly respectable.
