2003 Leoville Barton Saint Julien
CLASSIC
Leoville Barton always produced a very classic and backward wine, consistently the same style, year in, year out.
Nose of a pot load of coffee, dark roast and concentrated. Body wise, was not as ripe as I thought of despite 2003 was a hot vintage. The wine aged at a glacial speed, still huge and tannic after 13 years in the bottle. Decanted for 2+ hours and still barely ready to drink with very dry tannins and difficult to mellow down. Put away for another decade please.
