2004 Chateau Leoville Poyferre Saint Julien
SOLID
I had many 2004 Bordeaux wines in the past, not many possessed characters like this Poyferre.
One whiff, graphite coupled with surfacing dark fruits; if you blind me, I would have guessed it as a Pauillac by the nose.
Palate wise didn't reveal much as a typical Saint Julien either. All notes pointed towards Pauillac; massive structure, deep, dark fruits almost inky, dense and superb long finishing. I was astonished Poyferre from a mediocre vintage did so well! Kudos to the great winemaking skills!
