2004 Didier Dagueneau Pur Sang
POOR VINTAGE LOIRE
We had a best of the worst vintage dinner, and this was featured next to Raveneau Blanchot 94, and was certainly no match next to the Chablis giant. However it was the effort that counted.
Bus load of dry figs, baked lemon and damped tobacco on the nose. Palate wise, I found it feminine although I felt apple, quite thin and skinny, lacked fruits despite elevated acidity. From a poor vintage like 04, the alcohol shrank to 11.5%, compared to normal range of 12.5% 13%.
