2004 Domaine Armand Rousseau Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Clos St. Jacques
VERTICAL ROUSSEAU CLOS ST JACQUES
We finally managed to arrange for a vertical tasting of Armand Rousseau Clos St Jacques with vintages of 62, 93, 96, 99, 01, 02, 04, 08 present. Takeaway was that Rousseau CsJ is extremely consistent throughout vintages. Consensus vote was 96 as #1, 93 as #2 and 01 as #3.
This was my #4 of the night, surprisingly I chose this vintage over 99! But I did go back and forth to confirm. Nose turned me off with cardboard but palette wise extremely balanced. Poor vintage? Nope!
