2004 Pavillon Blanc du Chateau Margaux
Served very chilled, and all I initially had from the bouquet was wet stone and minerals, didn’t smell like a typical Bordeaux Blanc. Palette was nothing to be impressed about, normally the strength of Pavillon Blanc is with the fruit, they’re normally very elegant and seductive, but this vintage was just an average white wine, really nothing to shout about, as I think the cool vintage is really in play here. When warmed up in the glass, the fruits turned buttery. The strength was not prominent, and typical Bordeaux blanc are usually low in acidity, with such poor combination, this Pavillon Blanc was totally unexciting.
