2004 Pio Cesare Barolo
IMPROVING
I remember when I first tasted this wine probably 5 years ago, after a glass of it, I had paper cut on my tongue! The tannins in the wine was so harsh that I thought it's going to take at least 2 3 decades to be approachable, particularly since it's a Barolo.
Retesting it today, the tannins have mellowed down a lot more., while still dry, at least I'm able to drink more than a glass.
Nostrils: very rich and delicious with supple red fruits, some ripe plum and floral undertones
Tongue: extremely lush on the palate; delicious red fruit; black tea; sassafras root
