2007 Chateau de Beaucastel
Chateauneuf du Pape
For many vintages of Chateau de Beaucastel, either I loved it or I hated it, the reason I hated it was normally due to the tertiary strong aroma and taste of animal and fur (normally found in older vintages). This vintage did not have it, thus I loved it It may not be a head turner Chateau du Beaucastel which has more than a dozen of grape varietal blend, but it definitely did not turn me away. It possessed a masculine character initially, but when delve deeper into the wine, it actually showed very feminine and elegant character, with loads of prunes, plums, tar and wet earth. It tasted almost like a blend of espresso and latte, with very creamy texture. The alcoholic content is probably at least 14%, more like 15% to me, gave me a tipsy feel
