2007 Vincent Girardin Bâtard Montrachet Grand Cru
ATYPICAL BATARD MONTRACHET
Normally a Batard is quite buttery, fruity and scattered, this was the first time I was served (blind) quite a unique Batard Montrachet that reminiscent to a Meursault.
Nose of smoke, gunpowder, oily and with very faint white flowers. The content was like a Roulot Meursault, very confined, very well behaved within the boundaries, as this was strange as normally a Puligny was not as focused. Alongside I find it not very expressive although it had decent depth.
