2008 Brane Cantenac Margaux
MILDLY DISAPPOINTED Brane Cantenac was an old love, it was exceptional in 61, 64, 66, 82, 85, 95 and as recent as 2003. 2008 was not in the same league as the past glory vintages, Parker got 2008 all wrong. Burned wood nose jumped onto me, then slowly woody nose took over after I decanted the wine. The nose reflected the taste of the wine, skinny, dry and woody initially, although the oxidation in decanter helped brought up the fruits but was not enough to impress me. I was a bit disappointed.
