2018 Haut Bailly Pessac Leognan Graves Grand Classe

If there are rising stars from Pessac-Leognan, it has to be Chateau Haut Bailly and Smith Haut Lafitte. Both chateau produces stunning wines. I’d leave this discussion to solely Haut Bailly as SHL has been widely covered elsewhere in my tasting notes. I had the honor to attend a vertical of Haut Bailly back in 2013 with the president of the chateau, and I was sold then that Haut Bailly really requires serious attention. This is a really elegant classic Bordeaux, with one very important aspect – charm! A lot of tasting notes have covered how the wine smell and taste, but what really strike me is how charming this wine tastes! It simply dances on my palate and give me a great pleasure with lively performance. This is the most unique aspect that made Haut Bailly stood out from the crowded Bordeaux field, and I have not come across such unique character from the huge amount of Bordeaux wines I have tasted in the past.
