2008 Louis Carillon Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Les Combettes
ALMOST THERE
Combettes is not the strength of Carillon, of which I normally would go for Leflaive or borderline Etienne Sauzet.
The blind tasting just testified that. Nose of fruity characters. Body was big, but somehow lacking substance or big weight. The palate wasn't as flavorful, slightly acidic, and body was lean. Saving grace was that despite all the weaknesses I've mentioned, it was a great balance wine. Hope to see improvements from this plot from sons of Louis Carillon.
