2008 Veuve Clicquot Rare Vintage Brut
VINTAGE
The Champagnes we normally see being served at restaurants or supermarkets are NV or MV. Champagne houses will only make vintage Champagne if the weather was great, and the grapes are good enough to be declared a vintage. So when I come across one, I know I'll be in for a better treat!
This was an elegant yet complex Champagne where 5% was aged in wooden casks from forests in Central France. It gave me a variety of toasty notes, vanilla, nutty and roasted fruit flavoured aromas. Not bad vintage!
