2009 Antinori Guado al Tasso Bolgheri Superiore

Intense ruby red colour, very subtle and fragrant aromas with light hints of red berries and stronger sensations of chocolate and liquorice. Close nit, velvety tannins on the palate with chocolate, blueberries and a hint of vanilla in the aftertaste. A tangy and lingering wine, complex and stylish thanks to the excellent blending of tannins from the wine and the oak.
I had a sniff but didn't like the nose, thinking it would be a big bold wine. But then, nose is misleading, the palette will tell u the truth. I was really surprised on the nose, it was like a Bordeaux 2009, fruity, intense, while the fruits masked the acidity. This is quite a well made Italian wine, at a fraction of the super Tuscans. Really good to have a glass or two over a casual dinner.
