2009 Barde Haut St Emilion Grand Cru
At a whopping 14.6% abv, this is very uncommon for Bordeaux wine except for a very hot vintage. A whiff, I smelled a lot of mocha cream, distinct smoke, dark berry and massive fruits. Took a glass and decanted the rest, my initial evaluation was a fruit bomb, thick and concentrated fruits dominated the body, and certainly melted on the palette like a butter. However, I could not feel much tannins lurking around initially as it was truly masked below the massive fruits, but after a while, the full tannins kicked in and I can feel huge grips like road blocks.
