2009 Bouchard Pere & Fils Montrachet Grand Cru
I had this bottle with Japanese food. Frankly, I still prefer sake to go along with Japanese food, as sake doesn’t have too much tannins and acidity to deal with, whereas white burgundies’ acidity can disturb the Japanese food somehow. Upon sniffing, it’s definitely a charming bouquet with lemon scent that fade away quickly, replace with floral mingling with faint smoke. Content was decent, with a big, fruity style initially and slowly turn more elegant and mildly feminine. There’s this signature oily character with most Montrachets that I do enjoy. The evolution of the content was not obvious, and I had much better Bouchard Montrachet (like the killer 2004 vintage), thus I can only say while I do enjoy the wine, it’s not the best I’ve had.
