2009 Verget Puligny Montrachet Champs Gains
ATYPICAL PULIGNY
A whiff and I was puzzled.... the typical and expected buttery notes of Puligny Montrachet did not show up, instead, I got a heavily sourish nose, almost citrusy. The second glass was much better, with floral fragrance and minerals showing up.
Palate wise, again deterred from Puligny Montrachet style, particularly atypical of 2009 vintage style which would normally be low in acidity and generous fruits. Instead, this was with huge amount of acidity, light fruity body. Anyway still nice.
