2009 Verget Rugiens Pommard 1er Cru
WORST IS THE BEST
In a blindtasting of 2009 Verget wines from Pommard and Beaune, I didnt expect the Rugiens to be my worst as its a more famous plot compared to the rest. It started with overpowering nailvarnish on the nose and high acidity that turned me off.
But I finally understood my mistake! Good plots and young vintages especially from Pommard take years to tone down and this was the most unready to drink. Amongst the 4, this had the most finesse after 30 mins in the glass. Learned something today!
