2010 Etienne Sauzet Puligny Montrachet 1er Les Referts
LOST FAITH 2/2
Second Etienne Sauzet bottle in this flight of four, again disappointing with slight premox character. I really think Etienne Sauzet should look at their high failure rates and start compensating wine lovers with proper bottles, as I paid big bucks not to get failures! Smoky nose, slight summer flowers and irritating sugarcanes, implying slight premox again! Fruits were fading despite smooth and easy but simple content. All it left was acidity at the end of tasting, sigh!

ROLLER COASTER
I have warned audiences Etienne Sauzet 1er Cru was always a roller coaster ride, mostly ugly ride although once in a while you get a really superb ride. This was an ugly ride.
Sesame surfaced on the nose, but went away fast and furious, replaced by lemon and subsequently pineapple.
Loads of fruits on the palate: cantaloupe, honey, strong lemon, pineapple... Hollow thick fruits, not precise. Never buy Les Referts produced by Etienne Sauzet, in fact don't buy any 1er cru, only Grand Cru.
