2011 Francois Mikulski Meursault 1er Cru Charmes
Francois Mikulski I consider him as an average winemaker in white burgundy although sometimes he does produce some interesting wines. 2011 is a great vintage for white burgundies, and I will not hesitate to plunge into this Meursault as I always find Charmes 1er Cru the best plots in Meursault, many may disagree with me and think that Genevrieres is probably a better plot, but I beg to differ, as I find Charmes fruits very charming. The bouquet is clean with a very light aroma of green apple and floral notes. Content is great! Like I said, it’s very charming to drink Charmes, the fruits somehow have this addictive character that makes me really love it. Loads of lemon juice concentration along with great acidity (which is not often with Meursault produced wines), strong minerality along with a hint of white pear. Very addictive and savoury.
