2011 Palazzo Maffei Amarone Della Valpolicella DOCG Riserva
Amarone from Valpolicella was highly sort after wine, we at Fine Wines SG went around sourcing for the best and most reasonably priced Amarone out there, and I was happy to declare this Palazzo Maffei Amarone was stunning, at the bank friendly price of S$99! You can expect muted nose with loads of dried fruits on the bouquet as these were produced using dried passito grapes from Northeastern Italy’s Veneto region, one of the region’s most prestigious red wine producing area. Content was extremely sweet with raisins alike, the initial taste was way too big a wine, and it’s also quite dry, but give it some time in the decanter and it’ll mellow down significantly, and the dryness will go away as well. Very pleasant and enjoyable with sufficient airing in the decanter.
