2012 Gantenbein Pinot Noir Switzerland
The DRC of Switzerland! This was probably my third time I had Gantenbein throughout my drinking history, twice was Chardonnay and this time a Pinot Noir. I can assure you I have not tasted a better wine from Switzerland apart from Gantenbein, it’s simply the DRC of Switzerland, I have no doubt! Bouquet was not where it impressed me, with very slight barnyard, a bit perfumed and also grassy. However, a sip and I was head over heels with the content; so rounded, so extremely matured, so ready to drink, extremely friendly and pleasant, that’s the whole idea of drinking great wines! Very old school burgundy style.
