I saved the best for last. Amongst all the big name Alsace winemakers I have tasted today, I think Familie Hugel produced the best average Alsace wine, thus I'm impressed with Hugel.
This was THE BEST young Gewurtztraminer in the whole show, period. I went back and forth amongst all the big guys, revisiting every booth, this was the best. Surprisingly I finally get some refined oak and dry honeysuckle here nose wise.
Extremely intense palate, very big wine but well balanced, dry honeysuckle.
