2012 Mongalli Calicanto Trebbiano Spoletino Umbria
ONE DIMENSIONAL
This is made from Trebbiano or Ugni Blanc grape varietal, not something that I’m familiar with. But I do know a bit about Cognacs, which use Ugni Blanc due to it’s high acidity, low sugar levels and resistance to disease. However this bottle was very fruity and quite low on acidity, and relatively sweet, flat depth and simply one dimensional style. I’m actually surprised Ugni Blanc wines tasted like this, very different from my understanding of the grape varietal.
