2012 Smith Haut Lafitte Pessac Leognan
SURPRISED FINDS OF 2012 There wasn't too many good 2012 Bordeaux wines around, if you want to know my choices, leave me a message. I asked Daniel Cathiard (the owner), he said apart from the RP100 of 2009, he liked 2012. I was really skeptical till I had the first sip. Surprisingly it was very well made, a style which is sandwiched between 2009 & 2010, jam packed with great fruits with purity, but also possessed very classic style of Graves of crushed rocks, graphites, not in a harsh way. I'd buy some.

BORDEAUX GRAVES 2012 REPORT
Graves produced very uneven wines across the board. I prefer the whites over the reds. Only 2 vineyards are worth mentioning in the report: Pape Clement and Smith Haut Lafitte.
One of the stars of Graves here; slightly cooked on the nose, along with bread and extremely rich red fruits. Palette is rich and luscious, big, bold and powerful. Up and coming vineyard, certainly grabs my attention and kudos to the Carthiard family for getting it right!
