2012 Tolaini Toscana Al Passo
ENTRY LEVEL SUPER TUSCAN
This wine is the supposed entry level super Tuscan from the Tolaini estate. Being a super Tuscan, this would usually mean that they use grapes that are not permitted for them to be classified as a DOC, like Bordeaux grapes, in their blend.
With 85% Sangiovese and 15% Merlot, it was light on the nose with dark cherry, spice and a hint of violet floral notes. It was overwhelming on the palate with spice that masked the fruits. Not so super for me.
