2014 Bolla Le Poiane Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore
BABY AMARONE
After the Valpolicella wine is made, they are repassed or mixed again with a new set of skin and lees, which was from a previously fermented Amarone. This adds flavor, color, depth to an otherwise light Valpolicella wine. Alcohol % can also increase due to a second fermentation.
It had spicy notes of black pepper with black cherry fruits on the palate. It was very drying with high tannins and had a better finish than anticipated. It had hints of Amarone characteristics, hence the nickname.
