2014 Groot Constantia Grand Constance
NAPOLEON WINE
Considered the oldest wine in South Africa, this was wine that was drunk by emperors and kings. Most notably, this was the wine that Napoleon had requested during his exile. Not just 1 but he asked for 30 bottles a month!
This botrytis wine gave off very sweet smelling honeysuckle, apricot, and peaches. On the palate were honey, apricot, and refreshing acidity. The body was not too thick to be over cloying. I can understand why Napoleon wanted this to make himself feel better during exile!
