2015 Chateau La Couronne Grand Cru
NEEDED SOME TIME
The first whiff was weak, with a lot of green capsicum notes. A sip and I am pretty sure it was merlot denominated, with some Cabernet Franc. Although quite ripe, it hasn’t shown it’s true character yet.
I didn’t want to decant the wine for the sake of observation. Turned out to be a wise decision. The wine slowly morphed into ripe and forward character, while the underlying tannins were also more pronounced. Looked like this St Emilion wine will need more years to mature, probably 3 5.
