2015 Kavalan Solist
COGNAC MEETS WHISKEY
I was told this was an award winning whiskey, some kind of world award and recognition which puzzled me a bit, and of all places surprisingly it's from Taiwan!
Heard it was only aged in cask for about 5 years, thus unlike scotch whiskeys normally aged for 18 to 21 years old, I don't get the kind of complexity compared to single malt whiskey. It was a bit of smoke and mirror to me, very Cognac driven, yet with smoky character of a whiskey. Thus I think it's really a blend of both.
