2015 Verget Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons
CHABLIS IN 2015 .....
I loved Chablis production from 2015 vintage, very unique and different from traditional Chablis. Normally Chablis was tight, skinny and very mineral, but for a couple of Chablis produced in 2015 wasn't possessing such a character.
This Vaillons was strong fruits on the nose. Content was very soft, tasty, chewy, strong fruity character, almost like eating some kind of tropical fruits. Totally unlike any Chablis I have ever tasted in the past. 2015 Chablis was truly unique.

DAILY DRINKING 8/8
In this series, I'll be publishing 8 daily drinking wines that's affordable, that won't break your pocket even if you bet on the wrong horse. Conversely, you're in for big surprises especially for the top 2.
This was my #1 favorite amongst the 8 bottles. First, it didn't taste like a Chablis. Next, we have very muscular and bold wines attacking this label but could not overwhelm it. Finally, it has this charm and great balance that's great quality. Chablis in 2015 rocks!

AGAINST ALL FACTS
Chablis, being North of Côte d'Or, possessed a cool climate and unique soil of salty basis, and used very little or no oak. Which implies it's not ripe, not fruity, very mineral, doesn't have woody nose ...
But this Vaillon was so different from the traditional Chablis. On the nose, on top of slight fragrance, I get some new oak. Palate was not lean at all, it was really fruity, clean and with great quality of acidity. There's no trace of mineral. Perhaps it's due to global warming?
