2016 Newton Johnson Family Vineyards Chardonnay
BURGUNDY INSPIRED
I was honestly surprised by this wine from South Africa, as it quickly reminded me of a Burgundy style Chardonnay. Did a little bit of research and found out that the winemakers for this vineyard are a big fan of the classics, specifically Burgundy.
No wonder it reminded me of a Cote de Beaune. The nose gave citrus fruits, slightly chalky, with hints of that popcorn smell. The palate was creamy, oaky, with refreshing citrus acidity. Good value substitute if you are looking for one!
