2017 Verget Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons
The two labels we represent at Fine Wines SG, both are my favorite plots as well, except that Le Clous is considered a Liu Dit (a village wine with naming rights). Having to go heads on with a 1er Cru is somehow disadvantaged already, so don’t expect a fair comparsion. Le Clous started off very well, as the acidity was really focused and sharp. However, the stamina of Verget Vaillons came much later; perhaps after 30 mins, Vaillons overtook Le Clous in a very elegant way, suddenly the feminine and soft Verget just gently pushed Le Clous away from the crown seat, and there was no looking back. Verget’s Vaillons really deserved to be paid attention to.
