2018 Aegerter Bourgogne Pinot Noir
The problem with many cheap Bourgogne was that they’re highly unreliable, most often than not, you’ll get a content either too light, or with very sour taste, probably made from sour grapes, especially when these grapes were sourced all over burgundy regardless of where they were from. However, I bumped into Paul Aegerter’s wines by chance back in 2014, since then I have trusted them to produce good quality low cost wines. Paul’s style usually preferred riper and more forward fruity style. This bourgogne was no different, it was very ripe, forward, friendly, drinkable and easy going style and in fact very charming, made no big mistakes, the only downside is the lack of finesse, but that’s for 1er Cru and Grand Cru labels to complete that, not wines that’s produced from grapes sourced all over burgundy.
