2018 Verget Puligny Montrachet
Premier Cru Sous Le Puits
At nearly 400 meters above sea level, this site is the highest plot amongst the Puligny Montrachet Premier Crus. It borders Meursault to the north and right next to Blagny. At the highest plot, its supposed to be closer to the sun and thus drinkers perhaps expect a riper production. Prices of these Puligny Montrachet wines have soared to a level sometimes beyond being reasonable, although Verget remains affordable. Bouquet of obvious white flowers (when I used Rovini stemware) as well as huge amount of lemon leaves (when I use Glasvin stemware). Body is rather intense and stony, acidity is not obvious enough for me, I wish to see more in this aspect. While I do enjoy the balance, I think the wine should be left in the bottle for a couple years of development to achieve maturity.
