2019 La Tour de Mons Margaux

9.25/10 stars

This label perhaps can be called the second label of Chateau Labegorce, which was classified as one of the nine Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnels in 2003, although the chateau has an official name for their second wine which is called Zede de Labegorce. The vineyard, bordering Chateau Margaux and Chateau Lascombes, obviously sandwiched in a very prime location in Margaux appellation, shall not be ignored. I do enjoy this La Tour de Mons, with floral notes typical of a Margaux wine. The body is filled with feminine style, sexy and slightly voluptuous, creaminess and dominated by a blend of red and dark fruits. Bear in mind this wine is not meant to age, drinking it for the next 10 years will be fine, but anything beyond, I seriously doubt it can age, as the obvious lack of tannins is a sign of lacking aging capability. Thus, it’s really meant for early consumption and pleasure. My score is only sustainable up to 2029, anything beyond I suspect it’ll fall off the cliff quickly. Another point to note is that, the wine comes in original wooden cases of 6 bottles, very impressive for wines made for early consumption, this also shows the owner is proud of its wines!
