2019 Olivier Guyot Bourgogne Pinot Noir
This pinot noir is made from 6 separate plots located in the “Les Champforey” area, this area is a lieu-dit (village level but has the naming right), with vines of 50 years old on the average. As such, this is not just a low-level Bourgogne, at least it came from specific plots belonging to the owner, rather than sourcing grapes all over the place. Yearly production of approximately 12,000 bottles. Knowing 2019 being a powerful vintage, even at Bourgogne level, I still chose to decant the wine for about an hour. Bouquet was definitive strawberries, redcurrant and cherry driven. Content may not yield very powerful body, more like a medium body wine, very cherry alike taste. The surprising outcome was the really feminine and soft ending towards my last few glasses, without compromising on the taste. As such, I must say this Bourgogne is a worthy drink.
