2020 Domaine Aegerter Bourgogne versus
2021 Maison Aegerter Bourgogne Reserve Personnelle
Domaine Aegerter Bourgogne, as the name implies, produces the wine from Domaine’s own plot of vineyard, whereas Reserve Personnelle are wines that’s produced by sourcing grapes from all around burgundy, that’s the primary difference between the two. Even though the two wines are of different vintages, it’s still suitable to drink side-by-side to find the difference. 2020 is a stunning production, with very chunky, deep and broad taste, quality is stunning, I’d put this easily at the rank of premier cru quality, as the wine appears to be able to age for at least a decade. The 2021 production is of a totally different character; lively and engaging, with bright red cherry and ripe strawberry dominating the palate, very enjoyable. The 2021 clearly drinks very well right now, but no long-aging capability. If you keep the two bottles of wines for another 5 years and make a comparison, 2020 will definitely stand out as a clear winner. For the price, they are money well spent. The choice is simply whether you want a wine that’s drinkable right now, or you prefer to age it for a couple of years before consumption. The choice is yours!
