2021 Chateau Mont-Redon, Lirac
Lirac is probably a lesser-known appellation amongst Southen Rhone wines, which is a small village. Lirac is situated in the low hills along the right bank of the Rhone river in the Southern Rhone wine region, perhaps far from the beaten path. Bouquet is light and pleasant, with very little oak influence, seems to be revealing a very natural wine character. Content wise, my first impression is a very youthful wine, I decanted half the bottle, I can almost taste the young grapes with very high acidity. Surprisingly at half an hour mark, I noticed some changes to the body of the wine, as it has grown to be more concentrated and compact, flavour has been greatly enhanced with the decanting. I must confess such evolution is a very good hallmark for a village wine, as normally a poor wine would have been flat throughout the drinking session. As such, I would highly recommend wine connoisseurs to pay a little more attention to this appellation production. It can bring surprises in the future.
