2021 Verget du Sud Viognier

A table wine to start with, but with class. This wine came from Guffens’ own Tourettes vineyard in the Luberon, a limestone-rich terroir at 400 meters above sea level. Specifically, the fruit is from the Plateau de l’Aigle terroir. For 2021 vintage, the wine was fermented in 80% used oak and aged another 8 months on lees in a mix of concrete and used barrel. The result is stunning, you can trust Guffen wines without doubt, even if it’s just a table wine. The fruits of the wine is a robust and chunky fruits, very big and muscular, but also very enjoyable. Of course, one cannot expect too much for a table wine, although I must confess it actually exceeded my expectation.
