2022 Verget Macon Bussieres Vignes de Montbrison
Macon-Bussieres is part of the Regionale Macon appellation in the Maconnais, it’s located about 100+ km south of Burgundy, close to Verget’s home of Sologny. This is one of the most popular wines from Verget. The vine age is around 40 years, surprisingly it’s not classified as Vielles Vignes (old vines), wine is aged in 25% new oak. My experience with this wine is actually a very modern fruity wine, if I was blinded, I would have thought this coming from a new world chardonnay style. I enjoyed the elegant finesse of the fruitiness of the wine body, akin to chewing a bunch of Pomelo pulps mingled with ripe orchard fruits. I think people who wants to try a Macnnais wine, look no further than Verget’s key production of this label, you maybe hooked!
